Maybe your summer plans were cancelled because of COVID-19. Or, perhaps you have decided it is safer to stay local. If so, this is the perfect summer for a staycation in East Cobb! Some local events have been cancelled, but there are still plenty of great things to explore near our area!
Get Out There!
- Visit a State Park – Georgia’s state parks are open, so you can enjoy a day trip to Amicalola Falls, Tallulah Gorge or Fort Mountain. All three of these parks are less than a 2 hour drive from East Cobb. Just check this alerts page first. This is where they alert you if a park is filled to the current limited capacity. You can also check out the Georgia State Park events page for guided hikes, nature talks and other activities all over the state!
- Six Flags over Georgia is open! The park is implementing a fairly rigorous social distancing/safety policy. You can find out more about that here. The park is limiting admission and requiring advance reservations to prevent lines at the entrance.
- Drive-In Movie at The Springs Cinema – A great family outing, even If you are trying to keep a safe distance. The cinema is also showing movies inside. Prices inside are currently reduced until they start getting new movies.
- Visit a “Touristy” spot in Atlanta – The Georgia Aquarium, Fernbank Museum, Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the Atlanta Zoo are all open again with timed and limited entry. This is a great opportunity to visit these venues with limited crowds. Be sure to visit the websites first to make reservations.
- Take a Free Walking Tour – Check out the free walking tour in Woodruff Park, the Street Art Map or a tour of Civil Rights history in Atlanta (Note: some of the museums are currently still closed.)
